What's the difference between a heat pump and a dual-fuel system?
A heat pump-only system uses the heat pump as the sole heat source, supplemented by electric resistance strips for extreme cold. A dual-fuel system pairs the heat pump with a gas furnace — the heat pump runs above the balance point (~−15°C), the furnace takes over below. Dual-fuel is generally the optimal Ontario choice.
Is my home suitable for a heat pump?
Most Ontario homes with central ductwork are suitable. You'll need adequate electrical service (200A panel typically) and a compatible gas furnace if doing dual-fuel. We assess your home's insulation, ductwork, electrical service, and heating load at the estimate.
